ANNUAL MEETING WOODSTOCK RIFLE & PISTOL CLUB SATURDAY, APRIL 1, 2006 The meeting was called to order by President Herb Usilton and dedicated to the memory of Bob Geraghty and Bill Green. 32 members and guests were in attendance. The minutes of the last meeting were read by Sandra Green, There being no corrections or call for discussion, they were declared as “read”. Treasurer, George Clark, presented the financial reports, which are filed with these minutes. Old Business: The land issue has not been completely resolved, but we are in Current Use status. The taxes are back down to $800.00 or so and this will remain the status quo for the foreseeable future. A definition of “Current Use” was called for. Basically, this is a program to discourage development, to preserve tracts of land in their current state, with some guidelines to follow as to what the land shall produce and how the land shall be kept up. The club wished to note that the abutting land owners the Harlow’s and the Browns have been very generous in working with the Town of Woodstock to effect the necessary land transfer associated with the Club’s land that is currently being used by the Town for Church Hill Rd . There was a vote of thanks and a round of applause for all the hard work by the Executive Committee on the land issue. New Business: The proposed slate of officers was presented. The motion was made and seconded to accept the roster without question. Hunter Melville and Bryan Bibeault were nominated as VP’s at large and the nominations were passed and seconded. Last year the dues were raised to cover the cost of the survey. Since no extraordinary expenses were anticipated in the current year, dues were reduced back to $50.00 for regular members and $25.00 for senior. It was asked how there could be a reduction in dues when there was still work to do on the range. George said the projected expenses were already a line item in the proposed budget. He had figured the membership very conservatively, basing the proposed budget on 45 regular members and 15 seniors. As few as ten new members would make a big difference in the budget. It was questioned if there was a major project which needed immediate attention in the coming year. Two things: 1st to divert the water that collects at the gate area and 2nd to deal with the well and the general water situation. Secondarily, there is some more painting which needs doing. Jon Christensen, VP Range, will lead a group to do painting and other projects this summer. Rick and Ken proposed Action Pistol Events on Thursdays. Karen said that Al Nass has offered to give a women’s hand gun course if there is any interest. It was requested that major events be published far enough ahead of time to facilitate personal schedules. A monthly flier was suggested, but George said email was much cheaper and faster for those members on our list and post cards can be sent to those that are not. A master list of scheduled events will be compiled and published very soon. Sporting Clays was suggested by Bill Badger. George advised that the Executive Committee will look into the feasibility of holding this type of event. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. Respectfully submitted, Mary Aschenberg |
